Bogor (Indonesia), 1999: Juvilion was formed.
The first Juvilioners are Ani, Lau, Mahe, Pao, Pit, and Vi. Their reason of friendship was simple. It was because every one of them likes anime, manga, game and drawing.
None of them was thinking about being a close knit group before. But sharing the same hobbies and school meant that they spent a lot of time communicating with each other and soon enough, it became natural for them to meet at each other’s house every other week or month. After a while, they didn’t just meet because they share the same interests, but because they ‘clicked’ with each other.
Ri joined shortly after. Besides her, Jin, Lau’s friend joined too.
The group’s name, Juvilion (nicknamed as Juvi) was created at their third year by Mahe and Pit. Since the others had no better idea and thought it was too troublesome to argue (in the writer’s case), they all accepted. Juvilion itself is a shortname, but for several reasons the group’s majority prefer not to publicized it. Some goes as far as trying to forget it, although the name seems to stick in their mind >__<
At one time, while chatting at Pao’s back terrace, one of them (I forget who) suddenly had the idea to make and publish a comic, and BOOM!!! All of them started to chatter at once. They spent around two hours to brainstorm and like those cliché comic scene, a light bulb turned on. We decided to make a serialized adventure story with seven main characters. Pretty big dream for beginners. The project was then entitled Dominatio per Malum (Power Through Darkness) by Pao. All of this happened at the end of their 2nd year in highschool (or at Pao’s case, the end of her 1st year).
Alas, the project was stopped halfway.
One of the reasons was because Lau felt discouraged to continue while other Juvilioners were not satisfied with the story. They felt the story was way too long and aimless. The project was finally abandoned and every one of them started to focus on their own path.
After most of the group graduated from Regina Pacis Highschool, they went their own separate way (Mahe went to Japan, Pit to Malang and Pao to Malaysia) though they were and are still communicating with each other through e-mail and chat (ah… the wonder of technology). Some of the Juvilioners also made several unfinished comics.
At September 2003, Mahe created a yahoo group and another Juvilioner was added. His name is Rendy.
One day, Lau who usually held the main illustrator job got spirited again to make another comic and sent it to the publisher. Unfortunately, it didn’t pass the selection. Then his friend told him to join a professional group, however even when he joined, the comic was still not accepted because there was no love story (we made a humorous adventure story). Another story was made by the writer but he gets busy with his college works so the project was yet again stopped.
The Juvilioners still have other ideas and ambitions. Starting from making a website (you’re seeing it now), another comics (and finish it), and even make their own firm (you know, like CLAMP from Japan). For now, everyone was concentrating to finish their study to make that dream come true.
